Born in Tire, İzmir. İTÜ Mechanical Engineering, high honours, 1974; master's in Industrial Engineering at the same university, 1977. He began his career at Alarko the year he graduated — department engineer through 1981, including PVC construction supervision during the establishment of Petkim.

At the start of 1982 he opened the İzmir branch of a national hydraulics and pneumatics house and led it as Regional Director for 34 years, until June 2016 — then founded Soydan Hidrolik. Today he chairs the boards of both Soydan Hidrolik and the ERS cylinder plant: 44 years in hydraulics, and counting.

The profession knows him beyond the company. Visiting lecturer in hydraulics at Dokuz Eylül University Mechanical Engineering, 1988–1994; executive-committee member of all eight National Hydraulics & Pneumatics Congresses held since 1999, and chairman of three; 22 years on the İzmir Chamber of Commerce professional committee, ten of them as assembly member for the machinery group, to 2013; Board of Trustees of İzmir University of Economics, 2012–2018; member of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers — and today an assembly member of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO).
